Dec 21, 2009 First Look at ‘The Secret Garden’

I found a couple of images of Jayne’s work on stage on Flickr. They also had a few images from the rehearsals. And the West Yorkshire Playhouse was kind enough to post some video footage of the rehearsals and an interview with the cast on their website. You can find the video here. All the pictures have been added to the gallery:

Dec 21, 2009 ‘Secret Garden’ Reviews

As previously reported Jayne is currently starring in a new musical called ‘The Secret garden’. It is about a young girl who moves to England from India only to discover a truly magnificent world. You can find out more here. The first reviews have already come in:

Jayne Wisener as young Mary Lennox, James Gillan as the supposedly crippled Colin and Thomas Aldridge as the outdoor boy Dickon are all magnificent, as is Savannah Stevenson who plays Martha the maid. [...]
Not a dry eye anywhere, but sentiment is kept in check in this scene and throughout. [SOURCE]

Jayne Wisener is utterly convincing as Mary and the rest of the cast all deliver first-class performances, belting out the songs as if their lives depended on it. [SOURCE]

As Mary, Jayne Wisener is all wide eyes and strop at the outset – creating a convincing portrait of a young girl brought to a bewildering new place. And it’s her journey into making sense of her surroundings, and the delight at discovering a rambling, secret garden in the grounds, that makes this such an enjoyable experience. [SOURCE]

Oct 25, 2009 Jayne to star in new ‘Secret Garden’ Musical
Award-winning Leeds writer Garry Lyons has adapted a classic novel for the West Yorkshire Playhouse.
The Quarry stage will be host to a Christmas musical, The Secret Garden, based on Frances Hodgson Burnett’s novel.

Among the cast are Jayne Wisener who recently played alongside Johnny Depp in Sweeney Todd, and Helena Blackman, runner-up in the BBC’s How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?

Director Ian Brown said: “I have loved the book for many years and always wanted to do an adaptation of it. Garry’s adaptation and Tim’s music add depth and emotion to an already beautifully-crafted tale for the family to enjoy.”

It tells the story of Mary Lennox (Jayne Wisener) who arrives at her uncle’s home on the Yorkshire moors. Her life is transformed when she comes across a garden which is all but forgotten.

The musical opens on November 28 and runs until January 23. Tickets cost £14 to £29.50 (concessions available) and family tickets are priced at £50. [SOURCE]

Jul 03, 2009 “Lend Me Your Face” Plot Info

Thanks to Tom for pointing me in the direction of new information about Jayne’s latest movie “Lend me Your Face”. So now we finally know what the film is about:

“This contemporary comedy follows 21-year-old Orla Cassidy from Co. Monaghan as she wins Celebrity Quest and finds herself on the trip of a lifetime - sent to New York to plant a kiss on a famous pop star. With Ray, cameraman and documentary-maker manqué and Mike the soundman in tow filming her every move, they start looking for the object of their quest which proves harder than imagined.” [SOURCE]

By the way, IMDb lists the name of the movie as “A Kiss for Jed Wood”- which considering what the movie’s about would also make sense. I am not sure which title is correct though…

May 30, 2009 More “Emma of Lulworth Cove” Info
Stunning Jayne Wisener will become the envy of millions of teenage girls - when she gives Harry Potter star Tom Felton his first screen snog.

Tom - best known for playing Harry’s nemesis, Draco Malfoy, in the Potter movies - has built up a huge following among young girls.

And they are sure to be jealous when Sweeney Todd actress Jayne kisses him in forthcoming flick Emma of Lulworth Cove.

Lucky Tom won’t just have one beautiful girl bestowing her affections on him in the film - he also gets passionate with Hollywood beauty Sarah Paxton too.

It won’t all be plain sailing for Coleraine cutie Wisener, 21, who plays Zara in the drama - Tom’s character Robbie falls for a beautiful ghost called Emma, who is outraged when he marries Zara and sets about haunting the pair.

In the film, Jayne will swap her trademark blonde curls for a luscious maine of red hair.

American actress Sarah Paxton plays Emma, a lonely apparition from an 18th Century shipwreck who wanders present-day Lulworth Cove.

She meets Robbie and falls passionately in love with him - but his relationship with Zara invokes the wrath of Emma, who sets about destroying their marriage so she can have Robbie for herself. [SOURCE]

Jayne made a big appearance in last night’s episode of “Minder”. She played Maria Grant- a widow who suddenly finds herself in need of protection, when it becomes apparent that her late husband once swindled his best friend out of some pretty valuable diamonds they stole together. And she might be the only one who can find the stolen jewelry.
Lots of screen caps have been added to the gallery and I will upload some videos and update the career page over the weekend.
